Are you an experienced support worker with skills supporting those with substance misuse issues looking for a role within Flintshire?

At Nacro we want a society where everyone has the chance to succeed and the support they need to achieve their potential.

The people we work with are often at a point of change. Many have struggled; growing up in care, facing homelessness, failed by the education system, or caught up in the tide of the justice system. They may have been rough sleeping, involved in the justice system, experiencing mental health issues, recovering from drug and alcohol misuse, or at risk of domestic abuse or homelessness.

We believe that everyone deserves a good education, a safe and secure place to live, a right to be heard, and the chance to start again, with support from someone on their side. Nacro provide practical help and personalised support through our housing, education, justice, and health and wellbeing services. We work closely with people to help them build independence and to move forward to a better future.

We are currently looking to recruit a Project Worker to work with vulnerable people with complex needs and substance misuse issues on Nacro's Flintshire Doorstop project.

Doorstop is a generic floating support service working with people residing in fixed accommodation units in and around Flintshire. The Project Worker will be working with service users to ensure they receive the best service from Nacro and ensure this is co-ordinated with the broader supporting environment.

Our services  look to motivate and support people to stabilise behaviour,  make positive changes in their lives; to address underlying causes of their difficulties and to engage in meaningful activities such as training, volunteering and ultimately developing confidence and skills required to live independently and successfully in a permanent tenancy.  Support planning is person-centred, delivered in a psychologically-informed, trauma-informed, gender-informed way.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-  Deliver high quality, effective support services.

- Uphold Nacro’s values and behaviours and translating those into everyday activity.

- Ensuring safeguarding and risk management is a key part of our support work and that any safeguarding alerts and/or incidents are safely managed.

- Meeting service quality standards and adhering to all operational and policy standards.

-  Ensuring all service user support and safety plans are in place.

The successful candidate will have;

•    Experience of working with vulnerable people with a range of support needs, especially substance misuse issues
•    Ability to assess and manage risk
•    Excellent communication skills to motivate service users
•    The ability to carry out assessments for all service users to identify individual needs or barriers and then produce an agreed action plan that must be regularly reviewed, monitored and outcomes collated.
•    Organisational and planning skills, able to deal with conflicting priorities.
•    Ability to work effectively on own initiative and in a highly pressurised environment whilst responding appropriately to the needs of the service users.
•    Ability to work flexibly and proactively.

Driving License and access to a vehicle with Business insurance is essential.

A DBS check will be required for this role

The ability to speak Welsh or the willingness to learn would be an advantage.
